At Moltons Dental, we believe in the importance of preventive care and early detection to maintain a healthy, beautiful smile.

Our comprehensive dental examinations are designed to assess your oral health, identify potential issues, and create a personalised treatment plan to keep your teeth and gums in the best condition.

What to Expect During a Dental Examination

  • Medical and dental history review: Before your examination, your dentist will ask about your short and long-term medical history. We will ask you if you have any concerns about your dental status, whether you have a previous treatment history, and about your general health status. We encourage you to ask as many questions as you wish. We will then be able to determine the best way to meet your needs.
  • Examination: Your dentist will comprehensively examine your teeth, gums, and oral soft tissues. They will look for signs of dental decay, cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, abnormal tooth alignment, cracks, and tooth wear.
  • X-rays and digital scans (if clinically necessary): If it has been a while since your last set of X-rays, we may take a new set to identify any changes to the underlying structures. X-rays also allow us to see the contact points between your teeth, which can indicate potential complications. We may need to take X-rays more regularly if you have high-risk factors for decay or have had extensive dental work.
  • Gum health assessment: Your dentist will assess the condition of your gums and ask you questions about your lifestyle to identify any potential habits that may be linked to gum health issues. If we identify a significant amount of plaque present, we may refer you for a hygienist appointment shortly after your dentist’s check-up.
  • Bite and jaw assessment: Your dentist will check your bite alignment to identify if there is any evidence of grinding.

What should I do in a dental emergency? down black rustic rose circle arrow down black white circle arrow

In the event of a dental emergency, please contact us immediately. If you’re experiencing severe pain, swelling, or an injury to your teeth or gums, please call us during office hours, and we will do our best to accommodate you for an urgent appointment.

How often should I have a dental check-up? down black rustic rose circle arrow down black white circle arrow

At Moltons Dental, we recommend having a dental check-up every six months. Regular visits help us detect any potential issues early, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health concerns, before they become more serious. However, depending on your individual needs—such as a history of dental problems, gum disease, or ongoing treatments—we may suggest more frequent visits.

Your dentist will work with you to create a personalised check-up schedule that best supports your long-term oral health.
